Woman Seeking Her Purpose

2:2 Habakkuk Lane

Your Heart, JC 22021

Dear Woman Seeking Her Purpose,

Can I ask you a question?  What is “that dream, desire, goal or quest that has been inside [you] for quite some time.  That once ignited and encouraged [can] become the catalyst for a more meaningful and fulfilling life?”  What is it?

I thought I would write you a letter; A letter from one Christian woman to another.  Life can be full of choices can’t it?  You choose to follow your dreams except you really don’t know what they are.  You have a general idea but nothing concrete that says, “Yep, this is IT!”

Have you ever encountered individuals that seem to see you as an independent, go-getter that is trying to do something with your life?  And then, you encounter others, perhaps family, that see you as a dreamer, “Why are you always starting something new?  Just go get a regular job” seems to be their favorite line of “encouragement”.  But you don’t want to “get a job!”  You want a purpose – YOUR purpose, can’t they understand that?!

I can see you now!  Yeah, I know, you’ve probably wondered why you’re here on earth.  Asked yourself, “what is my purpose?”  “Is what I think my purpose is really my purpose?” “Is it what I want or what God wants?” “Yep, you’ve cried, many nights in fact, and persevered many days with determination sitting on your shoulders and a mirage of doubts nipping at your heels.

Yep, I can see you alright.   Are YOU the woman I think you are?  Hmmm, to be sure, let’s see.

Can you relate to the following?

I bet you’re not some everyday Sunday go-to-church Christian are you?  Nope, you have substance and truly want a deeper relationship with God.

You are searching and seeking.  You’re probably not sure what you are exactly looking for – most likely knowledge. Why, how, where, when? –and you don’t even realize that you are.

You’re an entrepreneur.  A leader of sorts.  Mary Kay, Pre-Paid Legal, Fashion Jewelry. You name it, you have probably tried it.  Not because you’re looking to get rich –of course that wouldn’t hurt.  No, deep down you were looking to find your destiny; your purpose.  There must be something you could do and do well.  Something that would give you joy, peace and satisfaction.  Something that would complete you as an individual.  And truth be told, you’re not a corporate America type of woman.  You tried it and it didn’t (or is not) working.  Nope, you see yourself as a leader of sorts.  Someone willing to take risks, wants to do what she loves, and help give back to others.

You’ve been branching out here, been testing the waters a little there, and trying to do what you think you’re supposed to do to bring your purpose into alignment.  But you’re seeing minimal results.

Sometimes you get discouraged and you stop.  You feel stuck, maybe even depressed a little.  You’re trying, you really are. You just need some something. What? You’re not sure.

You may feel insecure and times because you doubt yourself.  You often wonder if you are doing the “right” thing.  Should you go back into the workforce?  Should you quit your job and start pursuing your purpose?  Yeah, you’re not sure exactly what it is supposed to be but you gotta start somewhere, right?  Should you have kept that job you know you hated but paid the bills, the medical insurance and the yearly vacation – not to mention, having a steady paycheck!

You lack encouragement and wonder why your family or friends can’t seem to get it.  Why can’t they just say “good job” or “you can do it…” every now and then.

You see yourself beyond your present circumstances.  Yep, you KNOW that there is greatness within you.  Now, not the greatness that says, “Here I am. Look at me.”  No, the type of greatness that says, you have a reason for being and once you find it, all the doors will burst wide open.  There will be no stopping you.  No holding you back.  Lives will be changed and there will be an effect in your environment because of who you are called to be.

You truly believe you have something others can benefit from.  Perhaps others that has walked in your shoes, or is walking in your shoes and need a guide, a hand, a way out, a way to be better.  You want to tap into that but not sure how.

You’re looking for guidance, direction and know how.  You’re spiritually calling for help.  You’re physically calling for help.  You need knowledge to complete the task, goal, dream, purpose, etc. that you desire to achieve, but you don’t know what the first steps should be or what’s holding you back.

You’re ready to take a stand for what is right, for God.  You’re tired.  Tired of trying to do things your way. Something has got to give.  You’re at your wits end and you’re ready to find out from a spiritual perspective God’s calling for your life, and step forth and work that calling.

Whew!  That was a lot wasn’t it?  So, was I right?  Is this you?  I know it is!  See, I was once just like you.  Your story is/was my story.  A woman trying to find her place and purpose in life.  A woman trying to live a life for God and serve him with her whole heart.  A woman who knew without a shadow of a doubt she was born for a reason, and was searching for a way to find it.

My name is Tereciah and God has placed me here on earth for a time such as this; to encourage and guide the Christian woman that is seeking and searching for knowledge that will bring forth the greatness she knows she has within her.  Knowledge that will lead her to walk in her destiny; her purpose. By giving her practical knowledge from a biblical perspective God uses me to “light her spark.”

In perspective, I am a vessel and I now understand why I went through the things I did.  The spouse that thought I needed to get my head out of the clouds. The relationships and friends I had to let go of, and the family members that doubted.  It was to help you.

So, now that you’ve recognized some traits about yourself, and you’ve learned that there have been others that have walked where you are trotting, what are you going to do about it?  Let me give you some basic steps to get you thinking and moving.

Talk to God.  Pray.  Wait.  Listen. Remember God speaks to people in different ways, so don’t expect everything to be a Rhema Word. It may be via reading the Bible, a person, a sermon, a book, while walking, gardening, etc.  However, you will know in your spirit God is speaking to you.

Decide wholeheartedly you will do God’s will if he leads. It may not be what you prefer but nine times out of ten, you will have an inkling of the rightness of it.

Get a notebook where you can write all your thoughts down.  Write everything in it and keep it with you at all times.  Ideas, conversations with God, questions for God.  Everything. Once God knows you are ready, sincerely ready, he will start pouring into you and you need to be able to write them down as they come.

Surround yourself with others that are serious for God and the calling He has on their life and is walking in it. It’s like the eagle and the chicken story.  You’re made to soar while others stay scratching the surface of what God has for them through their cloak of Christianity.

Learn, Learn, And Learn! Learn who you truly are in Christ.  Learn how to activate your authority.  Learn how to walk in your calling.  Learn how to do God’s work with integrity, professionalism and sincerity.  Learn more about God!  Learn how to walk in Kingdom.

The Kingdom of God is already within you.  It is “God’s blueprint for what He intends to release on the Earth.”  You are the vessel, the chosen vessel He needs for this particular task.  Think on the statement below.

God has “put the answers to all of the world’s problems within His children but they are not being obedient.”

Now ask yourself, what are the answers God has already placed within you (me)?

There are people out there waiting for you.  Waiting to hear you speak into them, and change their lives.  Waiting for you to find your purpose and start walking in it.  God’s calling you.  Can you hear Him?  He’s saying, “I’ve got you.  I’ve already mapped out your life.  Just ask me and listen with your heart.  Give me your time, talent and heart.  Stop struggling.  It’s there.  I want to tell you.  I want to help you.  Let me.  Just listen, to me; To My plans for you.”

Well, I just wanted to drop you a few quick lines to get you thinking.  In the meantime how about doing me a favor, read Jeremiah 1:5 and Romans 8:28 and really think about what they say and how they apply to your life.  Ask yourself, “What is God saying to me here.”  Those scriptures have really helped me a lot.

Okay, I gotta go.  This letter was supposed to be just a few quick lines but I think it turned into paragraphs upon paragraphs.  But you know me; I think it’s the writer in me!

Alright, tell Determination and Perseverance that what they are looking for is right around the corner.  Oh, yeah, and that no, good, so called friend of yours called Doubt, tell them to go jump on somebody else’s back.  You don’t have time for foolishness!  Love ya, mighty woman of God!  Keep pressing forward!

Be Blessed!
