Devotional: Dare to Ask – God Wants to Enlarge Your Territory

"Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, ‘Oh, that You would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let Your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.’ And God granted his request." – 1 Chronicles 4:10 (NIV)

Let’s talk, sister. How often do you hesitate to ask God for more? Not just more things, but more impact, more boldness, more clarity in the vision He’s given you? Maybe you feel like asking for more is selfish. Maybe fear whispers that you’re not ready, not equipped, or that stepping out will cost you too much.

But look at Jabez. His very name meant “pain,” yet he refused to let his circumstances define him. He asked God to enlarge his territory, to bless him beyond where he was—and God granted his request. Why? Because Jabez believed in a God who wants to expand the lives of those who trust Him.

And guess what? That same God is calling you to more. Not because of who you are, but because of who He is. If He placed a vision in your heart, He already has the provision for it. He’s just waiting for you to ask and trust.

Let's Make It Personal:

Rewrite Your Prayer with Confidence – Instead of praying small, pray boldly: “Lord, enlarge my capacity to lead, to serve, to impact. Take me beyond my comfort zone into the place You’ve prepared for me.”

Say Yes Before You See It – Faith moves first. What small step can you take today that shows God you’re ready for increase?

Declare His Hand Over Your Expansion – Wherever He’s leading you, His presence goes before you. Speak this over yourself: “God’s hand is on my life. I don’t walk alone. He directs my steps and protects my journey.”

Reject Fear & Step Forward – Fear will always try to keep you small. But guess what? You weren’t called to small. You were called to impact. Boldly declare: “I will not shrink back. God has called me forward, and I trust Him to lead the way.”

You are not being selfish for asking God for more. You are not overstepping by praying for expansion. You are stepping into alignment with what God already planned for you. So, pray big, believe big, and move boldly.

Prayer:

Father, I come to You in faith, just as Jabez did. I ask You to enlarge my territory—not for my glory, but for Yours. Expand my capacity to lead, love, and walk in the vision You’ve given me. Keep Your hand on me, Lord, and strengthen me for what’s ahead. I reject fear, I reject doubt, and I step forward in bold obedience. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
