Embracing God's Guidance Through Wisdom for Your Vision
“Wisdom is gained when knowledge meets experience.” Those words leapt off the page as I read them, and I couldn’t stop thinking about how they apply to the journey of pursuing God’s vision for our lives.
As Christian women, especially those called to lead, create, and influence, wisdom is essential. But what is it really? Knowledge is the information we gather—what we learn from God’s Word, books, or even life itself. Experience is what we personally encounter, live through, and sometimes endure. When the two come together, they produce wisdom, giving us the ability to discern and act in alignment with God’s will.
But here’s the catch: to gain wisdom, we have to go through the experience.
Yes, friend, you have to walk through challenges, face uncertainties, and sometimes make mistakes. It’s in these moments—when knowledge meets real life—that wisdom is born.
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” Yet how often do we try to figure things out on our own because it seems quicker, easier, or more efficient?
I’ve done it too. Recently, I made a business decision that seemed like a no-brainer. I thought, “I’ve succeeded in this area before, so surely, this will work again.” I didn’t consult God, didn’t pray, didn’t wait for clarity—I just moved forward. And guess what? It didn’t work. Not only did I lose money, but I also felt frustrated and disappointed with myself.
Here’s what that experience reminded me again: I had leaned on my own understanding instead of God’s wisdom. I assumed my prior knowledge was enough. But wisdom reminds us that every season, every decision, and every opportunity requires fresh guidance from God. Why? Because the vision He’s given us isn’t just about doing things right—it’s about partnering with Him every step of the way.
In hindsight, I realized my mistake wasn’t just about the decision—it was about pride. I thought I didn’t need to consult God on something that seemed “simple.” But the reality is, whether you’re deciding on a business strategy, stepping into a leadership role, or navigating how to serve your family and community, you need His wisdom. And He often uses our missteps to teach us, redirect us, and deepen our trust in Him.
As women called to influence—whether it’s in business, family, ministry, or the broader pillars of culture—wisdom is critical. It’s what helps us navigate the fear of responsibility, overcome inadequacy, and boldly step into places we’ve never been. Wisdom equips us to steward our resources well, lead others with grace, and discern the timing and steps for the vision God has placed in our hearts.
But here’s the thing: when you ask God for wisdom, be ready for Him to answer through experiences. Wisdom isn’t something He just hands to us—it’s something we grow into. Those moments of trial, discomfort, or waiting? They’re His way of preparing you for the next level. They’re shaping you into a leader who doesn’t just act on knowledge but walks in discernment, faith, and clarity.
If you’re walking out a God-sized vision right now—whether it’s launching a business, starting a ministry, or raising a family—can I encourage you to pause and seek Him first? Pray. Ask for guidance. Wait for His direction. Sometimes His answer might not make sense to us in the moment, but He sees the bigger picture.
I love this thought: “Our capacity for wisdom is limited to our experiences.” But here’s the good news—God, the ultimate source of wisdom, is unlimited. When we lean into Him, He will give us the wisdom we need to navigate every season, decision, and opportunity.
As you step into your calling remember: wisdom isn’t just about knowing. It’s about trusting, listening, and applying what God teaches you along the way. It’s about recognizing that the vision He’s given you isn’t just for you; it’s part of His greater purpose to bless and transform others.
So, my friend, seek His wisdom. Invite Him into your decisions, your dreams, and even your doubts. Because when you do, you’ll not only walk out your vision with clarity and confidence—you’ll inspire others to do the same. 💛
Be Blessed!
