Grow Before You Go: Why Spiritual Maturity Matters in the Vision

“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught.” — Colossians 2:7 (NIV)

Let’s Talk, Woman to Woman…

When God gives you a vision, it’s exciting—sometimes overwhelming—but always divine. The problem is, we often want to run with it before we’ve been rooted for it.

We think we need a platform. God says we need more prayer.

We want clarity. God is calling for deeper trust.

We want strategy. God is after our sanctification.

Spiritual growth isn't a side hobby for the Christian woman of purpose—it’s the fuel. It's not just about “getting closer to God” for the sake of devotion (though that's part of it). It’s about maturing in a way that your character can carry what God wants to place on your life.

You can't build with God if you're not being built by Him.

Let me make it plain:

  • Spiritual growth means you choose to pray before you post.

  • It means you no longer look for confirmation in people before you obey God's instruction.

  • It means when life hits—and it will—you don’t throw away the vision, you dig deeper into the Source.

When you grow spiritually, you start to recognize the difference between a good idea and a God idea. You learn to wait without whining, build without striving, and lead without needing applause.

Spiritual maturity shapes your responses, refines your focus, and strengthens your foundation—because big vision with shallow roots will collapse under pressure.

Thoughtful Reflection:

  • In what areas of your life do you feel spiritually strong right now?

  • Where do you feel God is calling you to grow deeper before going further?

  • What is one practice you can commit to this week (prayer, Word study, worship, journaling) to develop spiritual consistency?

Closing Thought:
The vision God gave you is holy ground. Walk it out with clean hands and a surrendered heart. Don’t just grow physically—grow your spiritually as well. That’s where lasting fruit is birthed.
