One Step at a Time: Embracing the Power of Small Beginnings

When God gives a vision, it’s often big—bigger than your resources, bigger than your experience, and certainly bigger than your comfort zone. And while the vision may be overwhelming in size, God never intended for you to build it overnight. He intended for you to start.

Too often, the weight of the whole vision becomes the very thing that causes women to pause, delay, or completely shut down. The “how” and “when” can feel so uncertain that they do nothing at all. But purpose isn't built in leaps—it’s built in steps. Small, steady, obedient steps.

You don’t have to know how it will all come together. You simply need to do what’s in your hands right now. Maybe that’s writing the first paragraph, researching your industry, registering the business name, or sharing the idea with a trusted mentor. Whatever it is—do that.

God rejoices not when the plan is perfect, but when the work begins. The small things may not feel significant, but they are seeds. And when you plant seeds consistently, in faith, you create momentum. Progress is made bite by bite, step by step. This is how you steward the big vision: by honoring the small assignments.

Don’t underestimate what can happen when you choose to begin with what you have. Because when you move, Heaven moves with you.

Reflection

Have you been so focused on the end result that you’ve overlooked the power of starting small?

Prayer Lord, thank You for the vision You've placed in my heart. I confess that sometimes the size of it makes me feel stuck and uncertain. Help me to stop looking at how far I have to go and instead focus on what I can do today. Teach me to value small beginnings, knowing that You delight in my obedience. I trust that as I take faithful steps, You will lead, provide, and multiply. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture:“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…” – Zechariah 4:10 (NLT)
