When Obedience Feels Fruitless

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”— Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

You are a woman of purpose - aren't you?
You’ve heard God’s voice—maybe not out loud, but deep down in the part of you that knows when heaven has spoken.

There was a moment, wasn’t there?
When the vision came into your heart like fire.
When the calling came alive and rearranged everything you thought you were building.

You didn’t need a committee to confirm it—you just knew.
It stirred your soul. It lit a holy fire. It pushed you to pray differently.

Believe differently. Move differently.

So, what did you do? You got to work.
You began building—quietly, faithfully, boldly.
You said yes when nobody was clapping.
You showed up on the hard days.
You sacrificed sleep, rearranged your life, and made space for what God placed in your heart.

You poured from a deep place of obedience—sometimes empty, sometimes unsure—but still… you poured.

And now?

Now you’re glancing around and asking yourself questions you didn’t expect to ask by now:
Where are the people?
Where is the momentum?
Why does it feel like I’m pouring more than I’m producing?

You look at your metrics, your reach, your sales, your impact—and it seems like it’s all whispering, “Is this even working?”

You scroll through social media and can’t help but wonder:
What am I doing wrong? What am I missing?

It’s not that you’re questioning God’s faithfulness—you know He’s good.
You’re starting to question your own fruitfulness.
And that kind of wrestling? That’s real.

You feel like you’re building in the dark.
Sowing seeds that never sprout.
Obeying instructions that don’t seem to yield any return.
And honestly? It’s exhausting.

But lean in close. Let’s talk about that space.

The space between faithfulness and fruitfulness?
It’s sacred.
It’s stretching.
It’s sanctifying.
And it is not punishment.

God is not ignoring you.
He is maturing you.
He is developing something in you that can’t be rushed or microwaved.

Because God doesn’t just want to bless the work of your hands—He wants to build the woman behind the work.
He knows premature fruit can crush a purpose that isn’t rooted deep enough to carry it.

You think you’re just building a brand, a ministry, a movement.
But God?
He’s building you—your trust, your voice, your discernment, your capacity, your ability to carry glory without seeking validation.

So yes, He might allow some silence.
He might let the numbers stay low.
He may even close some doors you thought would be open by now—not to discourage you, but to develop you.
Because the thing He’s doing through you is eternal, and eternal things take time.

They grow deep before they grow tall.
They grow strong before they go public.

So what can you do?

1. Stay rooted in what He said, not what you see.
Return to the word He spoke. That first moment of clarity. Write it. Meditate on it. Let that word anchor you deeper than your stats or your emotions.

2. Reflect, don’t retreat.
Slow growth doesn’t mean no growth. Ask, “God, is this a shift I need to make—or is this a season I need to endure?” Don’t abandon the assignment just because you’re in the hallway.

3. Feed your faith with truth, not assumptions.
Get back in the Word. Study Joseph—who dreamed big and landed in prison. Study David—anointed king and then chased into caves. You’re not off track. You’re in the fire where strength is forged.

4. Keep sowing in secret.
Not every seed gets likes or comments. Keep posting. Keep teaching. Keep hosting. Keep writing. Keep recording. Obedience is success—even when nobody claps.

5. Guard your confession.
Speak what God said, not what your frustration wants to say. Don’t curse what you’re called to carry. Speak life—over your work, your vision, and your weary heart.

“Though your beginning was small, your latter days will be very great.” — Job 8:7 (ESV)

When I write to you, I also write to myself. Why? Because I know this place well.

I’ve been building—hard—for nearly two decades.
There have been moments I’ve whispered to God, “Where is the fruit? I’ve done what You asked. I’ve shown up. Why does it feel like nothing is moving?”

But when I look closely, the fruit didn’t always show up in followers, sales, or applause.

It showed up in my self-control.
In deeper prayers.
In a faith that knows how to fight in the silence.
It showed up in the craving for God—not just His outcomes.
In the conviction that won't let me quit, even when I have thoughts that it would be easier.
It showed up in my becoming.

What I thought was lack… was really formation.

And maybe that’s what’s happening in you, too.

Father,
You know how deeply I believe in the vision You gave me.
You see every seed I’ve planted. Every tear I’ve cried. Every time I chose obedience over comfort.

I confess—it’s hard to keep showing up when the fruit isn’t visible.
It’s hard to build when it feels like nothing’s breaking through.
But I trust You—even here.

Remind me that Your silence is not absence.
That slow doesn’t mean stagnant.
That You’re working behind the scenes, building something in me and through me.

Strengthen my heart when disappointment creeps in.
Redirect my focus when comparison tries to steal my peace.
Give me fresh grace to keep going—not because of results, but because of who called me.

Make me a woman who doesn’t quit.
A woman who trusts You beyond timelines.
A woman who builds with heaven in mind, not human applause.
Thank You for trusting me with this vision.
Now help me trust You with the timing.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Be Blessed
